INSTRUCTIONS

STEP ONE:

Cut all your colors into squares using the size guide listed below.

STEP TWO:

Lay the squares out to check that you have all the right sizes in the right colors.

STEP THREE:

Referencing the size guide shown below and using Fiskars’ fabric circle cutter, cut all the quarter circles out of your squares. The numbers on the diagram correspond with the numbers along the bottom edge of the circle cutter.

To do this, align the fabric square with the grid of your cutting mat. Place the circle cutter on top, aligning the black crosshairs in the middle at 1/4 inch in from the left and bottom sides. There are also dashed black lines on the left and right sides of the template that you can align with the bottom edge of your fabric.

Place the cutting tool in the groove of the correct number, press down and slide along the groove.

Note that the cornflower and peach pieces will need to be cute twice.

Note which portion of the square you need to save and put the other piece in your scrap collection.

STEP FOUR:

Lay all your pieces out again to make sure you’ve cut them correctly and saved the correct piece of the square.

STEP FIVE:

Pin the curves together.

To do this, fold each side in half and finger press the center point. Pin those center points together, as well as the edges, and halfway between the center and the edge.

STEP SIX:

Sew 1/4 from the curved edge. I prefer to have the outside piece on top (the teal piece in this photo).

STEP SEVEN:

Iron the pieces with the seam allowance radiating out from the center of the design.

STEP EIGHT:

Square the blocks up, cutting the minimum amount needed to make them square from the center of the design, and trimming them down to 7.5” on the outside edges.

STEP NINE:

Sew the blocks together, starting with the top and bottom pair and then sewing the halves together. Align the center and press the seam allowance open.

STEP TEN:

Cut 2 12“x14.5” rectangles for the back of the pillow.

STEP ELEVEN:

On each piece, fold a long edge over by 1/2” and then fold again at 1”. Iron and topstitch next to the fold.

STEP TWELVE:

Sew the pillowcase together as follows: Lay the front piece down face up, lay one of the back pieces face down on top, aligning the left edges and lay the other back piece face down, aligning the right edges. Pin together and sew 1/4” from the edge around all 4 sides.

STEP THIRTEEN:

Turn inside out and insert the pillow.

ENJOY!
