Not like when you line your car up wrong and have to start over because you hit the curb a little too close, that happens to the best of us. I’m talking about the people who clearly have no understanding of the concept of parallel parking and try it anyway. I made this as a gift for my old landlord to thank him 5 great years in our little apartment on 18th street. I don’t think I have many friends who would give their landlord a second thought after moving out, and I feel lucky to have had the very best. We asked him to be our realtor when we started looking for a house, so we got to know him even better before we left. He has lots of stories of growing up in our hood when it was rough, can cuss out a handy man like nobody’s business, has lots of opinions about local politics and knows all the neighborhood gossip. He adores his 16 year old miniature poodle named Lolita (who was occasionally dyed pink 🎀) and takes her in a special backpack on his motorcycle, calls me kid, gave me the master key whenever I locked myself out, and was VERY insistent that we get grout sealer for the new house. I hope he hangs this next to the giant swordfish he has hanging in his office. :)

Not super sure about the white in there. Uggg. But guys! For my first time doing legit satin stitch I’m kind of impressing myself. But I reiterate: it. takes. so. dang. long.
That awkward moment when you make eye contact with someone who just ran full tilt for a bus for like 3 blocks and the bus driver closed the door in their face. And now they’re panting and their clothes and bags are askew and they look like they wanna die. Do you commiserate? I figured out a way to make my slow hobby even slower! Why did no tell me that satin stitch is a b*tch? 😆 But it’s so prettyyyyy. 😍
I am so proud of these images and the dream team that pulled them together! 💥 This shoot is out in @volition.mag today. I made some weird paper things and @janelcarrington rocked their awkwardness - you can’t move in these things like regular clothes and she killed it. @melissamorley lit and photographed and edited them expertly, @miaczynski and @symabrol rocked the hair and makeup to perfectly complement our vision. 💥 Sometimes I do things that aren’t lettering, I hope that’s ok. 😉 Art direction is a different kind of rewarding and I love the collaboration that comes along with it.
I’ve been coming back to this guy for a while. Is it too fussy? Is that ok? It’s growing on me. I think. 💥💥💥 Dang! Dang. Daaaaang.
